Exciting Developments & Proud Moments!

It’s been a busy month at Local 1620, with plenty of exciting developments and proud moments to share!

Taking Training to New Heights!

For the first time, Local 1620 participated in drone training! This is an exciting step forward, providing members with opportunities to expand their skills and keep pace with our ever-evolving industry.

Representing Local 1620 at the IBEW International Convention

It was a true honour to serve on the Sergeant-at-Arms Committee at this year’s International Convention, gaining a firsthand look at the work behind an event of this magnitude. I also had the privilege of speaking personally with International President Kenneth Cooper.

Congratulations to newly elected International Vice President for Canada, Brother Matt Wayland! We look forward to working with Matt and the First District staff.

Another proud moment was having 1620’s own Allan Locke selected to sing the Canadian national anthem at the convention — a first for Local 1620 and an accomplishment we can all celebrate!

Our New Website Is Live!

We’re pleased to officially launch our newly redesigned website! With a fresh look, improved navigation, and easier access to member resources, we encourage everyone to check it out at www.ibew1620.com.

A special thank you to 1620’s own Janelle Ivany for her creativity and dedication in designing, developing and bringing our new website to life!

Executive Board & Committee Meetings

Our Executive Board and committees met recently, continuing the important work, discussions, and planning that help move our Local forward.

Honouring Our Veterans

We were also proud to present Brother Robert (Bob) Dillon, Chairperson, with 1620’s new Veterans Charter, recognizing our commitment to supporting and connecting veterans within our membership.

We encourage members who have served in the military to reach out to Bob to learn more about our Veterans Committee and how to get involved. Watch for a dedicated post with more details!

A lot of great things happening across Local 1620, and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead!
