Joining Local 1620

Local 1620 primarily represents Powerline Technicians but also represents other skilled trade workers and many supporting industry professionals in utility, construction and maintenance sectors throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond. If you’re unsure whether your occupation or workplace falls within our jurisdiction, contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss your options.

Union dues vary depending on membership type, bargaining unit, and employment status:

Effective July 2025:

“A”/Construction Membership:

$102 initiation fee (one time) + working dues – $48 + 1%/month OR non-working dues – $53/month

“BA”/Utility Membership: 

$100 initiation fee (one time) + working dues – $25 +1%/month OR non-working dues – $30/month.

Membership provides access to jobs, collective bargaining, workplace representation, negotiated wages and benefits, support when issues arise, training and education, along with many other perks.
